Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SnippetDesk (the "app") stores when a Shopify merchant installs it, why, who else receives any of it, and how to have it deleted. Questions: info@snippetdesk.com.

SnippetDesk is run by Ratheesh Kumar, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is responsible for this data (the "data controller" under UK data protection law).

In short

• SnippetDesk works with your shop's content (titles and descriptions), not with your customers.
• It does not read or store customer, order or payment data.
• It sends nothing to an AI service unless you set one up and click AI suggest.
• Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored for your shop.

What SnippetDesk stores

• Connection to your shop: your shop's myshopify.com address and the access token Shopify issues so the app can work, with the permissions you approved.
• Shop content: for your active products, collections and published pages and blog posts: the name, web address, SEO title, meta description and the first 320 characters of the item's text (used when no meta description is set). Also the name of your live theme and the pattern it uses for page titles.
• Your settings: the AI provider, model and house style you chose, and your AI API key, which is stored encrypted and never shown again. For the email report: whether it is on, how often, and the email addresses you entered.
• Change history: for every change made in SnippetDesk, the item, the field, the old and new text and the time, so the change can be undone.

SnippetDesk does not store the names or email addresses of your staff, and it does not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

Why

Only to provide the app: to show your search listings and their problems, to save the changes you make, to let you undo them, to write AI suggestions when you ask, and to send the report you turned on. The data is not sold, shared for advertising or used to train AI models.

Who else receives data

• Shopify, which the app talks to in order to read and save your titles and descriptions.
• The AI provider you choose (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or DeepSeek), only when you click AI suggest: the item's name, web address, text and a few details such as product type and vendor. This is sent with your own API key, under your own agreement with that provider.
• Hostinger, which hosts the app's server and sends the report emails, so it processes the stored data and the report recipients' addresses on our behalf.

How long it is kept

For as long as the app is installed. When you uninstall SnippetDesk, Shopify tells the app and it deletes everything stored for your shop: the connection, scanned content, settings (including the AI key) and the change history. The same happens when Shopify sends a request to erase a shop's data. Backup copies of the database are kept for up to 14 days and then deleted. The titles and descriptions you saved stay in your shop, because they belong to it.

Customer data requests

SnippetDesk holds no data about your customers, so requests to see or delete a customer's data need no action from the app. We answer Shopify's customer data requests to confirm this.

Security

Connections use HTTPS. AI keys are encrypted before they are stored. Requests from Shopify are checked for Shopify's signature before the app acts on them.

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data SnippetDesk holds about your shop, or ask a question about this policy, by emailing info@snippetdesk.com. If you are in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date. Important changes are also announced in the app.
